Does Hygge touch my money?#

No. Payments flow directly into your Whop account. We're a connector — our 0.5% platform fee is collected on Whop's side, never by us. We never hold buyer funds.

Do I need Stripe?#

No. Whop is the payment processor. If you're already on Shopify Payments (Stripe under the hood) for some products, you can keep using it for those — Hygge intercepts the cart-to-checkout step, so anything that doesn't go through the Hygge drawer still flows through your existing Shopify Payments setup.

What if Whop goes down?#

Your store still loads. Buyers can browse, add to cart, and view product pages normally. The Hygge drawer would fail to open and surface an error message. Whop has uptime in the 99.95%+ range — outages are rare and short.

Can I use my own checkout design?#

Custom checkout UI is on the Scale tier. Today that means colors, copy, and logo placement. Full theme rewrites are on the V2 roadmap.

Does this work with Shopify Plus?#

Yes. We use the standard Shopify Admin API and don't depend on Plus-specific features. If anything, Plus's higher API rate limits make Hygge faster for you.

Does this work internationally?#

Yes — Whop supports payouts in 241+ territories. Buyer card support is the same as Whop's: major cards globally, plus crypto and bank transfers in supported regions. We don't add geographic restrictions.

What happens if I uninstall?#

Uninstalling from Shopify nulls our access immediately (we can't read or write your store data anymore). 48 hours later, Shopify's shop/redact webhook fires and we delete every record we have for your store — transactions, checkouts, the works. If your Hygge subscription is still active when that fires, your account stays so you can reinstall on a different store later. See GDPR docs for the exact data we delete.

How long does setup take?#

About 10 minutes if you already have Shopify and Whop accounts. The Whop API key generation is the longest single step (~3 minutes inside Whop's dashboard). Everything else is one or two clicks.

Do you charge transaction fees?#

Yes — 0.5% per successful checkout, on top of Whop's processor fees (which are typically 2.9% + $0.30 for cards, varies by region). The 0.5% is the total Hygge cut. There are no setup fees, no chargeback fees from us, and no monthly minimum on transactions.

What about chargebacks?#

Chargebacks flow through your Whop account just like any other payment processor dispute. Whop generally has lower chargeback rates than direct card processing because their checkout includes user verification steps. Hygge doesn't add a separate chargeback fee — Whop's fee passes through.

Can I use my existing payment processor?#

Not currently. Hygge is purpose-built for Whop — that's where the lower fees and chargeback advantage come from. Additional processors (Stripe, Adyen) are on the V2 roadmap. If you're tied to a specific processor for a hard reason, email us and we'll let you know when support lands.

How do I get my data out?#

Subscription cancellation triggers Whop's standard data export. For your Hygge-side data (transactions, checkouts), email hello@payhygge.com — we'll send you a JSON dump within one business day. Per GDPR you have a right to access, portability, and deletion of your data; see our Privacy Policy.
